Keynote Address:Dr. Beverly O. Ford
The Ohio Welfare Conference is pleased to showcase Employment
and Training expert Beverly Ford
at the 109th Annual Forum. Beverly has trained more than 15,000 employment and training
and human services professionals across the country in case management, assessment, and
counseling techniques. She has an undergraduate degree from Talledego College, a M.Ed.
from the University of North Carolina, and a Ph.D. from Union Graduate School. She
emphasizes the use of practical concepts and strategies that can be easily transferred
into the workplace.

Kick off this years forum with a
bang!
To take full advantage of the time we have with Dr. Ford, she has
agreed to conduct an executive session with Directors, Administrators and Supervisors. The
topic will be strategic planning for welfare reform and the Ohio Welfare Conference will
offer this exciting "extra" at no additional cost to the first 75
qualified staff who pre-register for the 109th Annual Forum. Simply indicate
your desire to attend on the accompanying registration form (You will receive a

Luncheon Speaker: Harvey Alston
This years luncheon address will feature the return of Harvey
Alston to the Ohio Welfare Conference podium. Harvey regaled our Forum in the
past and has inspired and entertained audiences throughout Ohio and the nation on the
subject of being the best you can be. Mr. Alston has held a variety of positions
throughout his career. He was a high school football coach, a counselor at Central State
University, and a manager with the Wendys Corporation, to name a few. His speaking
career has taken him throughout the United States, and he has addressed more than 1,000
audiences both adult and student groups. Harvey has received numerous awards
including one from the Ohio House of Representatives and another from the Boy scouts of
America. He has produced instructive and inspiring audio cassette programs and is the
author of the best selling book bearing the same title as his luncheon address: BE THE
BEST.
ODHS Support for the 109th Annual Forum
As has been the case in each of the last two years, the Ohio Department of Human Services has contracted with the Ohio Welfare Conference to provide training to both ODHS staff and staff from county DHSs. We are therefore happy to announce that the first 350 registrations received from DHS staff will be complimentary and not incur the $85 registration fee! Just complete the enclosed registration form and forward to First Vice-President Brenda Newsom at the address indicated.
